When Bryan Lacey stood up to give his groom's speech at his wedding to Hannah Brown, everyone was expecting the usual list of thank yous and a tear-jerking recollection of how he met his bride.

But the professional stand-up comedian had other ideas about how to declare his undying love.

The 32-year-old took to the stage to perform an ode to his new wife - in which he promises to love her until she is old and grey, needs a Stannah stairlift, zimmer frame and bladder control pants.

The ditty, which had the guests at the reception in fits of laughter, continues by outlining his many faults including his hairy chest, penchant for pies and the fact he dribbles and snores in bed.

A video of the song has now been uploaded on social networking sites and has already been reposted hundreds of times.

One guest at the reception at Coworth Park Hotel in Berkshire said: 'Typically the groom's speech is the most dull but this one outshone the best man. It was a little bit cheeky and packed full of innuendo.

'The bride was in tears but I'm not sure if she was crying with laughter or just overwhelmed by the effort he had put in.'

Mr Lacey, who has gigged alongside established comedians Dara O'Briain and Milton Jones, said: 'Judging from the reception, clearly my songs are funnier than my stand-up is so I might pick up my guitar on stage a bit more often.

'The wedding was fantastic but watching Hannah's face when I stepped up was the highlight. Our 50 guests were whooping and cheering. Luckily for me there were no other comedians in the crowd to upstage or heckle me.'

The couple met three years ago when Hannah, 36, a talent scout, came along to watch him perform.

Mr Lacey, from Farnham, Guildford, said: 'It was right when I was getting started on the circuit and there were only six people in the audience.

'I was feeling pretty deflated with the whole thing until I saw her. She even laughed at one of my jokes so that helped too.'

He proposed on the top of the Empire State Building two years later with the couple tying the knot at Coworth Park Hotel on the same day that Princes William and Harry were taking part in the Coworth Park charity polo match, watched by Kate Middleton.

A host of other stars were also staying at the venue over the wedding weekend - with actor Russell Crowe sharing a drink with the couple at the bar on their wedding night and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie offering their congratulations at breakfast.

Mr Lacey said: 'Talk about stealing my thunder. I was hoping to be the only man my wife had eyes for but its pretty hard to compete with Brad and Russ.'

The couple are now on honeymoon in the Bahamas but return next week to the house they share with dog, a British Bulldog cross called Lola.

Mr Lacey said he couldn't believe the response to the video of his groom's speech, posted by his brother-in-law.

'I wrote it in secret when I took the dog for long walks,' he said. 'It was supposed to be a love song and a bit soppy but ended up being a little bit rude.'

The lyrics conclude: 'I'm punching well above my weight but now the ring is on your finger there is no getting away.'
